Why is Niechorze good for kids?
Short answer: small enough that kids can feel free to roam, big enough that there's plenty to do. Specifically:
- Beach 100 m from the centre — shortest beach access in Rewal county
- Red lighthouse from 1866 — climbable (135 steps)
- Narrow-gauge railway Rewal–Pogorzelica along the beach — kids' favourite
- Low traffic — narrow streets, slow cars, safe feel
- Many restaurants with kids' menus — including our fish fry
Attractions for kids
1. Niechorze Lighthouse (since 1866)
Niechorze's symbol. 45 m tall, 135 steps. From the top, view over the entire Western Coast — from Mrzeżyno to Międzyzdroje. Tickets: adults ~15 zł (~£3, ~$4), children ~8 zł (~£1.50, ~$2). Kids over 5 usually climb it themselves. Open June–September.
2. Narrow-gauge railway Rewal–Pogorzelica
Small train along the beach, several kilometres along the cliffs. Operating since the early 20th century (originally a fishing line), now tourist attraction. Kids love it (steam locomotive, open cars, sea views). Tickets: ~10–15 zł (~£2-3, ~$2.50-4). In peak season, book the day before.
3. Beach and piers
Niechorze's beach is wide, sandy, with gentle water entry — ideal for kids under 5. In season, lifeguard service (July–August). Two piers: small one in the centre, large one 5 min walk west. Pram access: easy ramp at ul. Plażowa car park.
4. Adventure park and mini golf
In Niechorze and nearby (Pogorzelica, Pobierowo) there are several adventure parks for kids. Mini golf — 2 spots in season, ~30 zł/h (~£6) per person.
5. Cliffs west of Niechorze
Walk along the cliffs towards Trzęsacz (5 km) — with the chance to see the Gothic church ruins (14th century) sliding into the sea. For kids over 7 — longer walk, but spectacular views. The narrow-gauge railway covers this route.
